Conservation Status

General Status in Canada Help: Secure

COSEWIC Status Help: Not assessed

The breeding range of the Golden-crowned Kinglet has expanded southward in recent years as a result of maturing spruce plantations in southern Ontario and the eastern United States. Given the spatial extent of its breeding range, there is currently little cause for concern from commercial forestry. Golden-crowned Kinglets also occupy a wide variety of winter habitats, and can be found in urban and suburban centres, pure and mixed forests stands, swamps and riparian areas; therefore, overall, this species is not a conservation concern at this time.
